#ME TOO and why it matters even more now than ever.

A male friend of mine posted this blog ‘OF COURSE ME TOO’ on his Facebook page. The more I read, the more it resonated with me.

Firstly, please note that when I refer to men in this blog, I am not referring to all men, but I am referring to the men who refuse to listen, who refuse to accept that there is a problem and that women do not feel safe alone in a man’s company.

Secondly I would like to thank all the men that do listen, that do take a stand, that make women feel safe and heard. Without you the battle raging over #ME TOO would be a hundred times harder than it is.

How many times are women going to have to stand up and say #ME TOO until men really start listening.

From my recent experience, we have a long long way to go. This really made me feel sad. Men I know, who I consider as enlightened and pro women shocked me to the core. They are happy to defend women as long as it does not cost another MAN his job.

I do not want to go into detail, as doing so would make things worse than they already are. Isn’t it so typical that we women do not want to “rock the boat” in case a man gets more offended than he already is?

However, I do value their friendship, and I hope that one day they will understand that I was not standing up for women, just to be difficult, but I was standing up for what is right and just.

Even while I am typing this, I am considering wether or not I should even post this blog on line in case someone takes offence.

How scary it that!! I did not report anyone for sexual harassment and cost them their job. I was not sexually harassed. All I did was stand up to men and say, a man did say something inappropriate to a woman and he did deserve to be fired. I am scared of posting it on line because I fear the repercussions.

WOW!!!!! The #ME TOO movement still has so much work that needs to be done before women can feel safe.

If you are reading this on line, then you will know I finally had the courage to post it.

To every women in the world, be strong, one day we will be safe.
