EDS is the most misdiagnosed, misunderstood medical condition in the Medical field. The more awareness of the condition, the more people will be diagnosed, the more likely there will be funding for research.
The more aware the Medical field is of the condition, the younger patients will be when diagnosed. The earlier the diagnosis the better. Kids and adults who have EDS (me included) are famous for "doing party tricks". Showing off the flexibility and doing weird stuff. These tricks do damage to the joints and muscles and ligaments and tendons. The sooner we stop the better for our bodies. The sooner we start exercises that aid our unique bodies, rather than damage them the better.
We also need understanding from our families, friends, work mates and any one else we may come into contact with. What we have is an invisible disease and without understanding, life gets really hard.
People try to understand, they pass well meaning comments (like those on the right) and then they give up, or drift off as it gets too hard to be abound us.
We do understand, it is hard to cope with someone who has a life sentence with their illness, but it is not visible. There is no outcome. There is no cure or death at the end of a period of time. This goes on forever.
