Once again I would rather be a unicorn than Human.

In another week of tragedies, once again the human race has trivialized the loss of life.

The first was the shocking mass shooting of 49 people in a LGBT club in the USA. - 12/6/2016

The second was the apprehensive murder of a female British MP Jo Cox by a far right extremism supporter. She has left behind two very young children aged 3 and 5. Once again there as been a national outpouring of grief by the UK. - 17/6/2016

The third, Ron Lester, a little known actor in the USA passed away from kidney and liver failure. This trended on Facebook as many people commented on his passing. -17/6/2016

The fourth was a deeply tragic story of a 2-year-old child being snatched by an alligator in Orlando. -16/6/2016

However the following did not make any impact on people who were so consumed by the above stories:

There was the tragic loss of life of 34 refugees trying to get to Algeria. They were abandoned in the desert by the people smugglers. TWENTY, I repeat TWENTY of these were children. - 16/6/2016

A bomb detonated in a ladies toilet in Target in Illinois. Fortunately no one was injured, but it is suspected that it is linked to Targets policy on transgender bathroom use. - 10/6/2016

Another woman was murdered in a so called ‘honour killing’. She was seven months pregnant with her second child when her mother and brother killed her. Her first child is only ten months old. - 17/6/2016

I have included the dates of each event so you are aware of when each event happened.

Now, lets discuss the reaction of humanity to these events.

1. Within 24 hours of the shooting, pro gun people and the NRA were on the news defending their right to own guns. It once again became about the second amendment right to bear arms than about the 49 people who lost their lives at the hands of a crazed gunman who was able to buy an assault rifle with no questions asked, even though he was on the FBI watch list. What about the people that died? Once again, most of the pro gun people of the USA claim to be ‘christian’. They are more concerned about their guns than the loss of life. Oh yes, the 49 people the gunman killed were in a LBGT club. It is the ‘christians’ who are protesting against the LBGT community from being treated as human beings. Where is the love God asks you to show all humanity?

2. I understand the grief shown by those in the UK towards this woman, as she was a public figure. However no one except the husband has shed a single tear for this young lady who chose love over her family and was murdered for her choice. She is just another number in a long list of these so called ‘honour killings’. And to most people, she is just another Hindu/Muslim woman who can no longer breed. Where is the love God asks you to show all humanity?

3. TWENTY children and fourteen adults have died at the hands of people smugglers. It made the Aljazeera news. Considering most “white christians” don’t read this site as is it mainly focuses on the middle east, it did not have much of an impact on the world. Once again the attitude would be 34 less refugees to worry about. Where is the love God asks you to show all humanity?

4. The Target bathroom policy of allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their identity has caused outrage in the USA. Over 1.3 million people have signed a petition against Target for this policy. I have seen an article on this petition and I can tell you that mainly ‘christians’ have signed it. Respecting a person includes how they see themselves. This policy is a positive step for humanity and yet, mainly ‘christians’ are the ones getting upset. Where is the love God asks you to show all humanity?

Unfortunately I do fall into the group of ‘christians’ I have hammered in this article. There is no other way to describe me as I do believe in God.

BUT I do not believe that God hates the LBGT community, Muslims and any other group ‘christians’ choose to pick on. I believe that God loves everyone, whether they believe in Him or not. He cares about the 49 LBGT people killed in the USA, the 34 refugees who died in the desert, the women murdered in ‘honour killings’, the UK MP who was murdered, the little known actor who died, the child killed by the alligator and anyone else who has died.

Lets stop the hate in the name of ‘christianity’ and any other religion that uses it as a tool to humiliate others. Lets embrace each other with love. Lets treat every single person as a human being and not according to a label we have given them which then lowers their status as a human.

Suicide - What isn't being done

There are conversations happening to prevent suicide, but there needs to be more conversations about the comments and wonky ideals that need to stop.

Lets start with what is being done.

Beyond Blue
R U Ok?
Life Line
Numerous apps available
And every other organisation out there doing everything in their power to assist those suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts. They do an amazing job with those who reach out to them for help.

We need to concentrate on the people that fall between the cracks. The people who don’t know how to ask for help. The people surrounded by a truly harmful yet unchallenged “suck it up” mentality. The people who think that R U Ok? Day is a joke.  The people who judge harshly those who did not see a light at the end of the tunnel of darkness. The people that depressions claims.

We need to break down the “suck it up” mentality and the jokers who waste opportunities for others to talk. We need to get people to talk more openly about depression and not feel condemned or judged. There are far more people willing to understand and support than there are those that judge. We need to get that message out there. We need to be the light for those lost in darkness.

Every person that dies because of depression is just one more statistic to the government, but affects so many lives. Conversations start about depression, but they never gain the momentum needed to reach others suffering.

We never say a cancer patient died of anything but cancer. No matter what the final cause of death was. We need to stop saying that a person committed suicide. The person died because they were chronically depressed. Taking their life was an outcome of the depression, not the cause of death.

This is a very emotional subject, and people may wonder why I am writing about it. For a start I suffer from depression. I am one of the lucky ones who has reached out and asked for help. My depression is not cured, but being managed as best as possible. I have lost friends, acquaintances and those only known to me via the web who suffered with chronic illnesses.

Please talk to your loved ones.

Why you should still sing in church.

I have read a few blogs recently about people refusing to sing in church anymore as worship no longer has any meaning.

I agree with all of their reasons except for an extremely important fundamental one.

Yes, the songs are from the latest hit parade.
Yes, most of the songs have little or no spiritual value.
Yes, worship has turned into a production that people come to watch.
Yes, yes, yes, yes to all the other reasons we can come up with not to sing during worship anymore.

However, we have all missed the most important fundamental reason we sing in church. That is to worship God. It is not about us.

Who cares what the song is. Focus on God. Worship Him. Sing your own damn song. No one will notice as most likely the music is loud. Worship Him with your voice. Even if it is just words, pray in tongues if necessary. God cares about what is in our hearts. Not the latest hit parade.

Get back to worship. Everything else will fade away as irrelevant. Worship our Creator as He should be worshiped.

Moonlighting as a Human

The reasons I choose to spend my life as a Unicorn rather than a human are vast. I only appear as a human when necessary, like Doctor’s appointments and the occasional social setting. I have found that the human race does not value life anymore and prefer to be outraged, create petitions, threaten lives and just be generally more upset when an animal is killed.

There were three items that caught my attention on my Facebook feed this week that reinforced my opinion.

1. The killing of a gorilla.
2. The number of people dying trying to cross the Mediterranean.
3. The number of Palestinian Children killed by Israeli forces since 2000.

The most viewed story and the one that created the most outrage was the killing of the gorilla. What about the thousand’s of people dying trying to cross the Mediterranean. What bout the almost 2000 Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces. Don’t they matter? Based on what I have seen on the internet, they don’t!!!

Today life is as valuable as a used tissue, unless you are privileged enough to be born in a first world country. What makes us any different than those born in third world countries? Absolutely nothing!! So why are their lives less important than ours. Oh yes, now I remember, most of the people I have mentioned who are dying are Arabic and many of them are Muslim. That makes them so called “Second Class Citizens” and their lives are not as important as a gorilla………. Really, a gorilla. Human life is a gift from GOD whether you are black, brown, white or any other colour, whether you speak English, Arabic, Hebrew or any other language, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Atheist or any other belief. You as a person are valuable and the rest of the human race needs to wake up and start paying attention.

As much as I voice my disappointment in the human race and choose to live as a unicorn, I live in hope that one day, all life will be valuable, and not just the chosen frozen.
